Elämän ja kuoleman vuodenajat (interactive installation)

Elämän ja kuoleman vuodenajat or Seasons and Life and Death is an interactive audiovisual installation. Videos of a tree group during different seasons are shown on a TV screen. The exhibition-goer may interact with the installation by making some sounds that are captured by a microphone. The sounds are used as material for the installation's soundscape. A video game controller may also be used to interact with the installation. Nature sounds are built-in within the soundscape, but they may also be turned off if the exhibition-goer so wishes. A one-page manual with controls is part of the installation. The installation is programmed with Max.

The work was exhibited at Sibelius Museum, Turku, 06/25-01/26, and at Culture House Laikku, Tampere, 04/26 during Tampere Biennale 2026. Mastovaara's work with the installation was supported by Teosto Cultural Foundation, The Finnish Music Foundation, and Sibelius Museum.
